Manganello-Pellizzari

31 May (Italiano) Doppio sogno nella mitologia contemporanea

The Galleria Browning is pleased to host the exhibition of sculpture ‘Double Dream in contemporary mythology’ by ‘Nazarene Manganello and Laura Pellizzari. Addressing the theme of the myth means a reinterpretation of the rebirth of the classical tradition. The terracotta becomes a ‘emotional place’ in which is concentrated a fascinating and evocative heritage that retrieves the suggestion of History and universal values. The figures are connected to a heritage of images and symbols from which emerges the flavor of the myth, through continual allusions to metaphysical worlds. The terracotta sculptures lead us in times past where beauty, material and spiritual reign. The dream opens to oneiric, subconscious and mythological. Femininity is a recurring subject in the work of Laura Pellizzari. Whether they are Nymphs, Venus, Muse or the Sirens, the intent is to recover the concept of beauty in the classical ideal of perfection, not only aesthetic, but intimate. ‘The shape is substance’. And in the shape we find the elements that describe the beauty of the female body and that release fertility, wisdom and beauty. More sobering is the vision of the beauty of the master Manganello, who, in his shapely lying female sculptures does not fail to engrave, scratch and even sew the relentless action of the time. His works also express the drama, and in this silent lament lies the evocative power of the substance. A plastic synthesis, a search for purity and spirit unites the works of Manganello and Pellizzari. In this ‘primordial’ mood, also made from poor materials and basic shapes, we find the flavor of myth and a love for mother earth, fertile and uncorrupted. .
